our process

The following is an overview of the sequence of events of a typical job and helpful information of anyone considering or installing new counters.  Although this outline focuses on kitchen counters, the process is the same or similar for most installation.

PROCESS:
Once your job has been confirmed, the countertop project goes through the production steps or measuring or templating, fabrication, tear out ( if applicable), and installation. Tear out the installation occur on the same day (in most cases).

Template:
When we arrive for measurements, we ask that you have cleared your countertops and keep the work area free of any objects. This will help us to finish the template efficiently.  Templates usually take from ½ an hour to 1 hour.
In the templating process, we make a pattern or your cabinets. During this phase:

*All sinks/cooktops/faucets are checked for compatibility and fit (therefore all such units must be on-site at template).

*Cabinets are reviewed for any adjustments required, as best can be determinate.

*Overhang, general support and any personal preferences are discussed. Any refinements needed to cabinetry, etc., which will be required prior to installation or your countertops will be discussed with you.

*Seam placement will be discussed.

Sink:
During installation, your undermount sink(s), if applicable, will be mounted under stone.  We ask that you do not plumb in our use the sink in any way for at least 12 hours.  Please keep this in mind when scheduling your plumper to reconnect the water and drain. Also, cooktops and faucets, etc. will be dropped into place for confirmation of fit.

Project Information:
Below is a list of information we will ask for prior to the production process. We prefer to obtain all of this information/materials at time of templating or very soon after.

*Sinks (we will bring the undermount sinks back to the shop)

*Faucet make and model and placement

*Cooktop/Range make and model; cutout dimensions; downdraft when applicable

*Edge Preference

Fabrication:
Prior to fabrication, we encourage you to approve your slabs.  Once slabs have been approved, there’s no turning back.

Tear out:
If your project requires that we tear out and remove your existing countertops, we will do so at time of installation (in most cases). We will not disconnect your plumbing or shut off the gas at time of tear out, so be sure to have a plumber do that prior to installation.

Installation:
At installation, we ask that you also clear the work area of any objects and clear a path for the installers to carry the granite.  The installation phase can take the better part of a day; and can require some final cutouts to be made in your home.

Please keep in mind that this is a major remodeling job, there may be some residual dust over the next couple of days, be sure to check the items left in cabinets.  We recommend the drawers to be removed. Items under cooktop and sink cabinet must be removed to allow access. Some dust can result even though out installers are equipped to catch the majority of it. At the end, all you stone work is sealed and ready to use in a matter of hours.
